Basset comes from the French word for 'low-set'. The Basset Hound is a long low hound, with long ears, and a sad, thoughtful expression. Like other scent hounds, an interesting scent will send him off and running out of sight. Good fencing is necessary. Colored like the Foxhound, with a smooth coat.
We currently do not have Basset Hound breeders listed with CADF.
