The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a remarkable shepherd's guard dog of ancient Turkish lineage. It is a large, rugged, powerful working dog with a self-sufficient temperament and possesses a superior ability to protect livestock. It appears bold, but is calm unless challenged. Ideal size: Males – 29 inches tall at the shoulder and 110 to 150 pounds; Females – 27 inches tall at the shoulder and 80-120 pounds.
